Enrollment Basics
How much does TESG cost?
Nothing. As a public charter school, TESG is tuition-free and open to all families.
What grades do you serve?
We serve grades K through 8 (kindergarten through 8th grade).
How do I enroll?
Apply through our online lottery. The lottery runs March 1, and you can join the waiting list any time after. Current students don’t re-apply.
Location & Daily Life
Where are you located?
We’re in downtown Greensboro, at the corner of Church and Washington Streets. 301 S. Church St.
What are the school hours?
8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with classrooms opening at 8:00 and fee-based early care from 7:30–8:00.
Is there transportation?
Yes — free bus service with community stops, plus easy access to public transit.
What about homework?
We focus on strong learning during the school day and keep evenings for rest, reading, and family time. Students stay challenged without nightly busywork.
Before & After School
Is there before- and after-school care?
Yes. Fee-based early-morning care is available, along with several after-school options through community partners and on-campus clubs.
Do students wear uniforms?
No. Students wear comfortable, school-appropriate clothing of their choice.
Support & Community
How do you support different learners?
We provide the full continuum of services for IEPs and 504 plans, English-language support, and enrichment for students ready for more challenge.
Does TESG have a religious affiliation?
No. As a public school, we welcome families of all faiths.
How will I know how my child is doing?
Through standards-based grading, work portfolios, conferences, and project presentations — a fuller picture than a single grade or score.
